Ever wonder what happens to the logging roads that are created during a timber sale, after the cutting is finished and the timber harvest is over? In many cases, the Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Division is using those roads to create hunter walking trails that not only allow better access to sportsmen but also are designed to attract game species, too.

Effective immediately, the purchase limit for antlerless permits for DMU 486 is five private land antlerless deer hunting licenses per hunter (down from 10 in this unit).
Also effective immediately, the public antlerless license purchase limit per hunter is two for each of the following DMUs: 012 (Branch), 034 (Ionia), 039 (Kalamazoo), 041 (Kent), 044 (Lapeer), 076 (Sanilac), 078 (Shiawassee), 079 (Tuscola) and 080 (Van Buren).
If you bought more than what is listed above, no problem. These new limits apply only to purchases on or after November 8th.
Howling for Wolves and the Center for Biological Diversity are protesting Minnesota’s wolf hunt but it’s all in vain, as hunters have killed some 109 wolves in the first eight days of the season. Thanks for the heads up from Outdoor Wire. Details are here…

Just as NRA warned would happen, following the election, the Obama administration has moved forward with its plans to support a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. On Wednesday November 7, the U.S. Mission to the U.N. made clear its support for renewed ATT negotiations, casting a vote in favor of resolution A/C.1/67/L.11. The resolution calls for a “Final United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty” to be held in New York City from March 18-28. Read more
