Henry Repeating Arms Donates 50 Custom Rifles to Benefit Texas Teen Battling Leukemia

“Team Keane” rifle series is expected to raise over $35,000 for Keane Rhodes of Universal City, TX

Henry Repeating Arms, one of the country’s leading firearms manufacturers, is stepping up to support 13-year-old Keane Rhodes of Universal City, Texas, who is currently undergoing aggressive treatment for ALL T-cell leukemia. Diagnosed on New Year’s Day, 2024, Keane faces at least two years of chemotherapy, radiation, and countless trips to Methodist Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

To help offset the family’s growing medical expenses, Henry Repeating Arms donated a limited-edition run of fifty “Team Keane” Golden Boy .22 lever-action rifles through its Guns For Great Causes charitable branch, with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to Keane’s family. The first and last serial numbers are now available in online auctions until July 9 at 9:00 PM Eastern. The remaining rifles are available for purchase online. All firearm purchases must ship to a federally licensed firearms dealer.

Keane is an avid athlete and outdoorsman who dreams of becoming a professional baseball player or a pyrotechnical engineer one day. Throughout his diagnosis and treatments, he remains in high spirits, surrounded by a loving community of friends, teammates, and family.

“Keane’s story is one of incredible bravery and resilience, and it’s our honor to rally behind him and his family during his fight,” said Anthony Imperato, Founder and CEO of Henry Repeating Arms. “This young man’s potential is boundless, and I hope to see his name on the back of a professional jersey one day. On behalf of everyone at Henry, I send a heartfelt thanks to all who choose to join Team Keane with the purchase of one of these rifles.”

Built on Henry’s award-winning Golden Boy .22 platform, the rifles feature a polished Brasslite receiver, octagon barrel, and genuine American walnut stocks. The buttstock is engraved and finished in full color with custom artwork honoring Keane’s passions, including football, baseball, hunting, and fishing, as well as his nickname, “Honey Badger,” earned on the football field for his fearless play style. Each rifle bears unique serial numbers ranging from TEAMKEANE01 through TEAMKEANE50. Baron Engraving of Trumbull, Connecticut, donated the artwork and engraving services.

By using your binoculars to see the details of feathers, shades of color, distinctive markings, bill shape, and other interesting features you will enjoy your observations all the more (Yellow Warbler photos by Paul Konrad).

While you would never go birding without binoculars, you might be surprised at how many people don’t use binoculars when viewing birds at their feeding station or in their yard. We think it’s equally important and even more interesting to have your most important birding equipment within reach – your binoculars. FPC Opposes DOJ’s Dangerous ATF-DEA Merger Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) today announced its strong opposition to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) recently proposed merger of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The DOJ’s dangerous proposal would consolidate the ATF and DEA into an authoritarian “super-agency” with the combined powers to wage the failed war on drugs and enforce unconstitutional federal gun control laws against all Americans, not just violent criminals and drug cartels. By merging the ATF’s firearms enforcement authority into the DEA, the DOJ is effectively equating peaceable American gun owners with drug cartels, turning millions of law-abiding citizens—as well as their constitutionally protected weapons—into co-equal targets of a militarized federal enforcement regime.

FPC has provided many proposed reforms to the White House, DOJ, and ATF, all of which would improve the lives of law-abiding Americans as well as access to rights and instruments protected by the Constitution. Rather than creating massive new problems for gun owners, the DOJ should instead focus on implementing these proposed reforms, stop engaging in anti-Second Amendment litigation and prosecutions, and support important Second Amendment challenges in the courts, especially the United States Supreme Court.

“We absolutely support the repeal of the unconstitutional federal gun control laws that underpin the ATF’s existence. Read more

SCI Applauds Senate Parliamentary Ruling Blocking Public Land Sale Proposal

Safari Club International (SCI) applauds the recent ruling, by the Senate Parliamentarian, that the proposed sale of up to three million acres of public land is non-compliant with the Senate rules, specifically the Byrd Rule. The rule prohibits provisions that are viewed as “extraneous” to the budget. An item is considered extraneous if it does not produce a net positive change in the budget and or increases the deficit beyond the “budget window” and are subject to a sixty-vote threshold if they remain in the bill.

SCI member voices were heard when they applied pressure on lawmakers and as a result, Senator Mike Lee, pledged to reconsider the proposal. Now the Senate Parliamentarian is set to stop it in its tracks.

“This is a victory for every hunter who values and relies on access to public lands. Land access is a resource that once taken away cannot be replaced and effects all outdoorsmen and women.” Said W. Laird Hamberlin, CEO of Safari Club International. “SCI members took action, and Washington listened to our collective voices proving that when we work together, we can stop bad policy decisions.” Read more

A Sunfield, Michigan, man returned to the Luce County District Court June 16 for a restitution hearing regarding his involvement in a series of state forest campground thefts in the Upper Peninsula.

Justyn Mark Spitzley, 36, targeted several payment collection sites in which campers deposit cash – known as pay pipes – last fall.

Following his February arraignment, Spitzley pleaded guilty to one felony charge of larceny of more than $1,000 but less than $20,000, and one misdemeanor charge of operating on a suspended license.

The court ordered Spitzley to pay an additional $6,000 in restitution and a $2,000 reimbursement for cash that was recovered as evidence at the time of his arrest in October.

He also was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for 81 days served. Read more

Escort Youth Shotgun Lineup for 2025

Nothing is more memorable than a person’s first firearm. In the US, shotguns are often a part of history, culture, and a coming-of-age memento. Despite the personal timeline, these firearms are frequently used well into adulthood and passed down to the next generation to continue using and cementing tradition and personal history.

Escort Shotguns will continue this tradition with three youth shotguns: the FieldHunter Youth, PS Youth, and the all-new WS Youth for first-time hunters. All these exceptional firearms fill specific niche needs and outdoor uses, from bird hunting to target practice.

Receivers are made from an aircraft alloy receiver finished in a black anodized finish or camouflage patterns (PS Youth only), reducing weight and providing complete dependability with exceptional corrosion resistance. Affixed is a 22-inch oxidation-resistant chrome-plated steel barrel threaded for Escort’s multi-choke system. Choke options include F, IM, M, IC, and CYL, widening the practical use and shot patterns. Read more
