December 2012 NSSF-Adjusted NICS Background Checks Up 58.6 Percent

The December 2012 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 2,237,731 is an increase of 58.6 percent over the NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,410,937 in December 2011. For comparison, the unadjusted December 2012 NICS figure of 2,776,105 reflects a 49.7 percent increase from the unadjusted NICS figure of 1,854,400 in December 2011. Read more

More Window Dressing for Chicago

Chicago has big trouble with violence, yet has the most stringent gun control laws in the nation.  The answer:  more gun control.  Its  Public Health Committee of the state Senate quickly approved bills that  would ban the sale of semi-automatic firearms and high-capacity magazines during  the lame-duck session, but it seems to be going nowhere.  We all know, however, that the results of the bill will go nowhere in preventing its citizens from perpetrating evil.  Much like the failed war on drugs, there cannot be control without addressing demand.  And, in this case the “demand” is that crime pays.

Feinstein’s New Gun-Ban Bill Likely to be Introduced January 22

Contact your members of Congress and urge them to oppose any “assault weapon” or magazine ban


Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)–author of the federal “assault weapon” and “large” ammunition magazine ban of 1994-2004–has said for weeks that she will soon introduce an even more restrictive bill.  Leaders in the U.S. Senate have stated that January 22 will be the first day on which new Senate legislation can be proposed, so that is the most likely date for the new, sweeping legislation to be introduced.
On Dec. 17th, Feinstein said, “I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation” and “It will be carefully focused.”  Indicating the depth of her research on the issue, she said on Dec. 21st that she had personally looked at pictures of guns in 1993, and again in 2012. Israeli Magazine Factory Running Round-the-Clock to Provide AR-15 Mags to the US

FARMINGDALE, New York – Fears about future changes to US firearms laws have consumers scrambling to purchase popular semi-auto sporting rifles and standard-capacity magazines for those rifles.  With almost all magazines out of stock at retailers in the US, and prices often reaching 1,000 percent above standard retail pricing, an Israeli manufacturer has increased production to help mitigate the magazine shortage.

Armed School Security Is Already in Effect

When the NRA called for armed security in schools, opponents called him crazy.  But, when Bill Clinton enacted such a program called Cops in Schools, he was brilliant.  And, the failed Clinton gun ban of 1994 was permitted to sunset, because it was a miserable failure and had no effect on crime, but now it will work because liberals love the notion.  California Senator Barbara Boxer wants armed National Guardsmen in schools, but no one hears a peep about her mental health.  In addition, we have some 23,000 schools with armed guards right now, but who is talking to them?

So, we see that as long as the liberals want a discussion on the issue of safety for school children, the talks can go on – as long as the ideas are their own.

Tucson’s Gun Buy-Back Plan Almost Makes Sense

Just what we need:  More symbolism over substance.  Another gun buy-back program with a sensible twist covering what happens to firearms after they have been turned in.

“The police would have to take the guns and run them through the national database. If they are stolen, they are returned to the owner,” said Todd Rathner, a member of the National Rifle Association’s board of directors . “If they are not stolen, the police department is mandated by state law to sell them to the public.”

This sure sounds like a reasonable approach, but when does reason win over emotion and feel-good showmanship in the eyes of liberal gun grabbers?
